Nearly forty years ago, I was ordained into the Church of England for Christian ministry.  Its been a fascinating and wonderful journey; everyday I wake to thanks God for His love and His goodness; that's not to imply that all the travelling has been without mishap or mistake, but through every event (joyful or disappointing) I have felt the nearness of my fellow traveller, Jesus Christ.

That's because Jesus, from whose birth all time is measured, offers to draw alongside all who are longing for change. In the new testament, there are four accounts of His life, teaching, powers of healing, death and resurrection from the dead. Coming from God, whom He addressed most intimately as Father, he came to bring forgiveness and reconciliation - and he does it again and again. Jesus is no dead prophet, but can be known as a living presence.

We do lots of things at St Mark's and are a very diverse crowd of people with representation from many African countries, the Caribbean, South America, Central Asia, the far east and Europe. Our culture is multinational, but our unity comes through knowing Jesus in our hearts and lives. We would love to have you come and take part with us. If you're uncertain of where to begin, we would like to invite you to an Alpha supper on Tuesday, September 25th 2007, in St Mark's Church.

In the meantime, let me say St. Mark's extends to you the warmest of welcomes.
